Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’m a twenty-something wife, nurse, homeowner, and pet mama. I grew up in Livonia, Michigan and have called Grand Rapids, Michigan home for the last ten years. I live in a bungalow in the city with my husband, Ben; our dog, Shadow; and our cat, Chloe.
I was living a pretty unexciting life, working full-time in a localemergency department and doing some crafting, baking, and home decorating in my spare time. In November, 2014 I had a fall at work and damaged my knee. I spent 14 weeks off work, and as of February 2015, there’s no end in sight. I have to have a second surgery in which some
zombie cadaver cartilage will be placed and a tear in my medial patellofemoral cartilage will be repaired. After a long recovery, I’m saying prayers and planning to work hard to get my leg well enough to go back to work at the bedside.
All of this time away from the workplace has given me the opportunity to explore some of my other interests. I’ve been doing more baking, cooking, and crafting than I’ve ever done. I’ve also taken up swimming, as it’s a great way to strengthen my leg without putting too much stress on it.
They say every cloud has a silver lining, and it took me a while to find this one. I was so wrapped up in working and extra-involvement at the hospital that I didn’t have a lot of time to do the things I wanted to do with my time. My husband and I didn’t spend as much time just “hanging out”, and I know that one day when our lives are hectic again, I’ll look back and wish for these days. (The free time and the baked goods, anyway. Maybe not the knee thing.)
I hope you enjoy reading what I have to share. I can’t promise to never post pictures of our pets, but how can I resist?
Until next time!
